An Evening Ride I cannot Forget

Today’s weather felt beautiful after so many days. The sky was filled with clouds, the wind felt calm, and the soft rain made everything look peaceful. It was one of those evenings that makes you want to step outside, take a deep breath, and just exist quietly for a while. For the past few days, I was not able to go for a ride, but today I thought I should. I took my scooty out because those little rides have always felt like an escape to me. Sometimes being alone with the roads, the weather, and your thoughts heals parts of you that words cannot explain.

But today, something happened that completely changed the feeling of that evening.

While returning, I saw a man standing there. Maybe he was mentally disturbed, maybe not in his senses, but the way he looked at me instantly made me uncomfortable. I still tried to stay calm and decided to pass from there quickly. But the moment I crossed him, he started running behind my scooty.

That moment genuinely frightened me.

I immediately increased my speed and took another route, but my hands were trembling badly. My mind was filled with fear. I kept thinking what if my scooty had stopped? What if he had caught me? What would have happened to me then?

I know for many people this incident may not sound “too serious,” but the fear I felt in those few minutes cannot be explained properly. Sometimes situations do not physically harm you, but they leave fear inside you, and that fear stays longer than the moment itself.

When I finally reached home safely, I thanked God silently. But after that, another thought kept disturbing me more than the incident itself.

What if instead of me, there was a small girl?Would she have understood what was happening? Would she have been able to escape too? Or would that fear stay with her forever?

People often say our own localities are safe, but today even familiar roads felt unsafe to me. And honestly, that hurts the most. Because girls are not asking for anything extraordinary. We just want to enjoy an evening ride, feel the weather, breathe peacefully, and return home without fear following us.

Maybe writing this will heal something inside me. Writing always does somehow. But I also hope this reminds every girl that if something frightens you, your fear is valid. You are not “overreacting.” Sometimes even the smallest incidents leave the deepest impact on the heart.

I am not able to describe this any further because every time I think about it, a strange heaviness fills my heart again. Some fears do not leave you immediately; they stay quietly inside your mind, replaying themselves when everything around becomes silent.

But if any girl is reading this, I just want to tell you one thing please stay safe and never let fear convince you that you are weak. The world may frighten you sometimes, situations may shake you deeply, but never forget how strong your heart truly is. Heal slowly, cry if you need to, but always gather yourself again with courage. And no matter how terrifying a moment feels, trust yourself that somehow, one day, you will make it through it all.
